Birkenhead
Friday 28 August, 2009
Hi Kae,
Herewith my letter – I am pleased I get the opportunity to mention my appreciation. Was great meeting you J
I am new to New Zealand and the area of Birkenhead and must mention that the striking aspects that absolutely took my breath away about this area are the beautiful gardens and flowers in the town centre. Kiwiville is beautiful, no doubt about that, but the fact that the commercial areas are kept so clean, tidy and then too decorated with these beautiful flowers, plants and lights in the town centre of Birkenhead make for an awesome spectacle.
Before going back to my place of origin for a quick holiday, I had to stop at the town centre and take photos of these well kept gardens and flowers in the middle of the roundabout and around the area, I had to show why I was so fond of and proud of the area I live in. I can’t wait for my family to visit later in the year so that I can show them the well displayed flora they have heard about so often.
In light of this, I should also mention that I have not once felt sour about paying taxes in New Zealand, I can see it is money well spent!
Thank you to all those hard working people who make it possible for us to have the enjoyment of a well kept and beautiful town centre!

Birkenhead is looking great
Friday 28 August, 2009
Hi Kae,
just wanted to reiterate our conversation - Birkenhead is looking great . Looking clean - less grafitti - bus shelters not being vandalised. Love the lights up round the ANZ shops would be brilliant if these went right down eventually. Makes the place very appealing and so many people have commented to me that the place is so much cleaner.
well done you have made a huge difference. I am born and bred Birkenhead - My Grandfather lived in the old house opp the primary school was pulled down to build the shops and i remember Birkenhead as a child being a great place to shop with Lanes bakery the butchers and even material and furniture shops.
We love the new shops and i think with the sprucing up you are doing and the great coffee places Birkenhead will be the place to visit. No more $2 shops required.
Best wishes

Rubbish
Tuesday 30 November, 1999
Dear Kae,
As I regularly walk around Birkenhead Point, I have noticed the much
improved condition of the Shopping Centre area of Birkenhead Avenue and
Mokoia Road. The piles of rubbish and litter all over the pavements
have miraculously disappeared.
Thank you.
Kind regards,
