Birkenhead Village presents:
CAPT COOKS FAMOUS POTATOE SCONE RECIPE
Captain Cook first introduced the potato to South Island M?ori in 1769.
M?ori adopted the potato, as it resembled k?mara (sweet potato) and could be grown in a similar fashion.
More importantly, potatoes tolerated cooler conditions than k?mara. They were reliable and high-yielding, and quickly became a key crop.
Spaces are limited to 10 people per session. Children must be 8-15 years of age. Tickets are paid for on the day at OTT. $5 materials cost
