For 130 years, the iconic New Zealand Sugar Company's factory has sat at the foot of Birkenhead Village, on the banks of the Waitemat? Harbour. Let our local guide walk with you in the footsteps of the original sugar workers, past their historic family homes still standing today, and hear stories of the living testament from the family archives as you step in to experience a glimpse of living social history from 1886 to the present day.
