Join us to celebrate Birkenhead Village "uniquely the town" that Sugar created!  Our unique New Zealand Heritage goes back to the establishment of the Sugar Factory in 1886. As the factory grew the services around it did too and crept up the hill to the birthplace of the current Village between 1920-1950 around our iconic Highbury roundabout. At one point a Chelsea Sugar employed a third of the Village population. 
Celebrate the opening of our Sugar Town Art Deco Vintage Carnival with the fantastic Madeleines Trio concert performance. The vintage vocal trio will transport you back to the golden era of music!
These ladies have worked internationally in theater - in West End, Hong Kong and Melbourne
Dress up in your vintage best and bring your dancing shoes to join the vintage swing dancers from 12 noon to 2pm outside /or inside Birkenhead Library!*
